Enjoy a taste of Peru on this outstanding short tour of the country's most famous sights. The tour visits Lima and Cuzco, from where you explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and a night is spent by the spectacular Inca city of Machu Picchu, set high in the Andes.

Itinerary...

Day 1 To Lima: Fly from London to Lima via Amsterdam with KLM, or via Madrid with Iberia. Transfer to the Melia Lima Hotel for 2 nights. (N)   
Day 2 Lima: Morning tour of the historic heart of Lima, one of the major cities in the Spanish Conquest of the Americas. Visit the Convento de Los Descalzos and Casa Aliaga and the Jesuit Mission of San Pablo. (B)
Day 3 To Cuzco: Morning flight to Cuzco, set high in the Andes mountains.  Spanish churches and mansions sit alongside Inca remains in this ancient Inca capital. Transfer to the Hotel Jose Antonio for 3 nights. (B)
Day 4 Cuzco: Afternoon tour to the countryside around Cuzco, including Sacsayhuamán with its remarkable Inca masonry. Return to Cuzco and visit its historic buildings and the large baroque cathedral. (B)
Day 5 Pisac & Ollantaytambo: Full day tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where the Urubamba River cuts through the Andes mountains. Visit the Indian market at Pisac and the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. (B, L) 
Day 6 To Machu Picchu: Very early morning start for a spectacular journey by narrow gauge railway to Machu Picchu, one of the world’s great travel experiences. Take a guided tour of the ruins. Stay at the Machu Picchu Inti Inn for 1 night. (B, L)
Day 7 To Cuzco: Morning at leisure, with the chance to revisit Machu Picchu before an afternoon train journey to Cuzco. Transfer to the Hotel Jose Antonio for 1 night. (B 
Day 8 To London: Morning flight to Lima and transfer to the Hotel Melia, where a day room is available until the late afternoon transfer to the airport. Fly to London via Amsterdam with KLM, or via Madrid with Iberia. (B)
Day 9 London: Evening arrival. (N)

Tour + Lake Titicaca, 11 Days / 9 Nights from £2,110 (plus fuel surcharge) 

At 12,580 feet altitude, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world. The Andean people refer to it as ‘The Sacred Lake’ and legends say the first Inca rose from its depths and went on to found the Inca Empire. 

Day 8 To Lake Titicaca: Travel by first class bus to Puno (approximately 8 hours), with stops en route. Travel under the high peaks past mountain villages and hillside terraces. Transfer to the Jose Antonio Hotel on the shores of Lake Titicaca for 2 nights. (B, L)
Day 9 Lake Titicaca: Full day tour to the floating islands of the Uros Indians and Taquile Island. (B, L)
Day 10 To London: Morning flight to Lima. Day room use at the Hotel Melia until evening KLM flight to London via Amsterdam, or via Madrid with Iberia. (B)
Day 11 London: Evening arrival. (N)

Highest Point: Cuzco at 3,310 metres (if you have a heart or respiratory problem please seek medical advice from your GP prior to booking).
Machu Picchu - you will encounter steep steps and inclinations, a reasonable level of fitness is required.
Tour supplements:
Colonial tour of Lima £40 per person.
Second entry to Machu Picchu is not included, but can be added for £50 per person.
On days 4 & 5 you will take the 'backpacker' train. To upgrade to the 'Vistadome' for private journeys only the supplement would be £45 per person.
Obligatory Christmas and New Year dinners are not included in the above prices, please contact us for details.

The Melia Lima
The Meliá Lima is located in the residential and diplomatic area of San Isidro and is a 10 to 15 minute drive from the ocean down the wide Av. Salaverry. There is a good restaurant, with a menu that includes various Peruvian specialities, and a bar.

Jose Antonio Cuzco
This recently built hotel has modern architecture, with a fine colonial touch and is surrounded by the lively historic streets. Facilities at the Jose Antonio include a restaurant, bar, sauna and shops. The comfortable rooms have central air conditioning/heating, in-room safe and en suite bathrooms.
 
International Inn II, Mcchu Picchu
The Inti Inn is a small and simple, comfortable hotel located in the centre of Aguas Calientes village, a short bus journey to the ruins and surrounded by small restaurants, cafes and shops. The hotel has a restaurant, 24 hour hot water, air conditioning and heating.
