Summary...
This private journey offers the opportunity to explore Peru in ultimate style and comfort, staying in the country’s finest character hotels and travelling in style aboard the Orient-Express Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu. The itinerary has been designed to combine Peru’s ancient, colonial and scenic highlights and allows time in each of the destinations to explore the sights and enjoy the luxurious surroundings.

Itinerary...
Day 1 To Lima: Fly to Lima via Amsterdam with KLM, or via Madrid with Iberia. Transfer to the oceanfront Miraflores Park Hotel for 2 nights (ocean view room). (N)

Day 2 Lima: Morning tour of Lima visiting the colonial centre, including the Convento de los Descalzos and Casa Aliaga, and the Peruvian art collection of Mari Solari. (B)

Day 3 To Cuzco: Morning flight to Cuzco. Stay in the tranquil surroundings of the Monasterio Hotel (de luxe room) for 2 nights. Afternoon tour of the city and the ceremonial Inca site of Sacsayhuamàn, with great views across the valley. (B)

Day 4 Sacred Valley: Take a full day tour to the Urubamba Valley with its wealth of Inca sites and great natural beauty. Visit the Inca market at Pisac or Chinchero and the fortress of Ollantaytambo. (B, L)

Day 5 To Machu Picchu: Travel to Machu Picchu aboard the Hiram Bingham train, a classic Orient-Express train with gourmet dining, a piano bar car and impeccable service. Relax over breakfast as you journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On arrival, take an afternoon tour of Machu Picchu (shared excursion). Overnight at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge (superior room). (B, L, D)

Day 6 To Cuzco: Day at leisure to explore Machu Picchu. You will be able to enter the site at dawn before the crowds arrive. In the evening, take the Hiram Bingham train back to Cuzco, with a gourmet dinner on board. Return to the Hotel Monasterio for 2 nights (de luxe room). (B, L, D)

Day 7 Cuzco: At leisure. (B)

Day 8 To Puno: Board the Andean Explorer train for the 10 hour journey to Lake Titicaca. You will be served lunch and a pisco sour as you travel across the high plains and through beautiful scenery. Stay at the Libertador Esteves or Casa Andina Private Collection (Lake View) for 2 nights. (B, L)

Day 9 Lake Titicaca: Full day tour to Taquile Island and the floating islands of Lake Titicaca. (B, L)

Day 10 To Lima: Morning tour to Sillustani, the burial towers of the Colla tribe. Afternoon flight to Lima and stay at the Miraflores Park Hotel for 1 night. (B)

Day 11 To London: A day room is available at the Miraflores Park Hotel. Fly to London via Amsterdam with KLM, or via Madrid with Iberia. (B)

Day 12 London: Arrive London. (N)

Optional Extension...
At Lake Titicaca, it is possible to stay 2 nights at Suasi Lodge, a remote private island retreat on the lake.  This option includes 2 nights in Puno and 2 nights at Suasi, making the tour duration 13 days / 11 nights.

Suasi Lodge Extension to Peru in LuxuryOffering views across Lake Titicaca, Sausi Lodge is a small, secluded retreat set on a 45-hectare private island and ecological reserve. The lodge is constructed from locally-sourced stone, wood and reeds and has 30 rooms. Native grains and vegetables are grown, wild vicuna have been introduced and a trout farm provides fresh fish.

The Hotel Libertador Lago Titicaca is a first-class hotel situated on the island of Isla Esteves, offering spectacular views over Lake Titicaca. There are spacious communal areas, modern rooms with lake views, a restaurant serving fine cuisine, a bar and a games room. This is an excellent base for lake excursions.

The Monasterio, Cuzo (Luxury Departures only)
The Monasterio has been converted from a 16th century Jesuit monastery into one of the most stylish and atmospheric hotels in the world. The hotel is located in the heart of Cuzco and has been decorated using the finest Spanish and Inca designs and materials and all the rooms and suites are different. There is a gourmet Peruvian restaurant and bar with colonial period Cuzco art and antiques. This is all set around a peaceful and picturesque central courtyard leading to the beautiful baroque chapel of San Antonio Abad. Please note that due to the historic and unique nature of the Monasterio, rooms are converted from the former sleeping quarters of the monks, therefore no two rooms are the same and are not of the same size as modern purpose built hotels.
